LUIGI XVI
Line of product:
Louis XVI’s rise to the throne came in conjunction with the rapid spread of the Neoclassical movement that, as opposed to the sinuosity and whimsy of Rococo, marked a return to the formal and elegant forms inspired by the ancient designs of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
THE RECTANGULAR LINE OF THE PLATE RETURNS WITH FINIALS OF CLASSICAL ACANTHUS LEAVES.
THE PHYTOMORPHIC ELEMENTS IMITATE THE DESIGNS ON THE UPHOLSTERY AND FURNISHINGS IN VOGUE IN FRANCE DURING THIS PERIOD.
THE NATURAL MOTIF OF ACANTHUS LEAVES REMAINS BUT IS REPRODUCED WITH MUCH GREATER REGULARITY AND BALANCE.
